The ABC’s of Developing an Afterschool Literacy Center

Developed by the Charleston County Community Education Program, this guide outlines basic concepts in creating and implementing a literacy center in an afterschool program environment. It is our hope to complement the learning activities of the school day with our literacy centers. Reading is a life-long endeavor to be encouraged and enjoyed! Additional resources are printed in the back, and we encourage you to investigate the wealth of literacy information that is available online, within our local school district, and at the public libraries.
