Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read course offerings? (see diagram below)

How do I pay for a class? You can pay by credit card, check or cash. Payment can be made on-line with credit card. You may mail in or bring payment/registration by Community Education office as well.

Where are classes held? Community Education classes are mainly held during the evening hours at your local high school. In some cases, classes are located off-site at various schools or businesses.

How do I find my class the first night? Upon arrival, proceed through the main entranceway of the school. Class locations,room numbers, and other pertinent information will be posted in the main lobby.

Do you offer discounts for senior citizens? The Gold Card Club card is available to all Charleston County residents ages 60 and over. The card will allow you to participate in classes for 20% off the published class fee, if discount is applicable to that particular class.

When are classes offered : Classes are offered three times a year, Fall (starting in September), Winter (starting in January), and Spring (starting end of March).

Will I receive class confirmation? By registering on-line, you will receive notification on the status of your class via email. Our staff will only contact you should your class be cancelled or postponed.

What if I want to take classes at different Community School locations? You're welcome to take classes through multiple Community Education sites, however you must register at each Community School separately.

What if I want to register more than one person for a class? Our registration procedure allows you to register more than one person for the same class on-line.

What is your class cancellation policy? All classes are required to have a minimum number of participants. Should a class be cancelled due to low enrollment or other extenuating circumstances, you will receive a credit to your account or refund of payment.

What is your refund policy? A refund/credit of fees is automatic when a class is filled or canceled. Requests for refunds for personal reasons must be submitted in writing to the Community Education Director, prior to the second class meeting.
