Program Details
  • There are 34 Kaleidoscope after-school programs for elementary children grades K-5 and 4 in middle schools.
    Community Education also operates twelve 21st Century Learning Centers
  • All program are held at your child's school.  No transportation is required.
  • Children are in a familiar environment with children their age.
  • Weekly themes, homework, snacks, recreational games, arts and crafts, and play are the general areas of activities in this program.
  • Each staff member attends a minimum of 18 hours of training annually plus CPR and 1st Aid certification. 
  • Staff members with CPR and 1st Aid Training are on hand at all times. 

Contracting with certified teachers, Community Education has developed a Curriculum Guide where fun activities, which parallel SC State Curriculum Standards, are incorporated into the program.  The "Guide" help staff coordinate activities that complement school day learning. Program quality is monitored by SC Department of Social Services and Charleston County PRC. Additionally, programs utilize the "Standards of Quality" developed by the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) to help ensure quality care for your child.
